How a claim moves
From the first call to the last check
Most claims pass through the same stretches, in the same order. Here's what happens in each, and what we'll ask of you.
- 01Rough water
Step 1: You call, and we listen
A lawyer talks with you, usually the day you call. If we can help, we explain the fee agreement in plain words before you sign anything.
- 02Rough water
Step 2: We take the calls off your hands
We tell the insurers to talk to us, not you, and send letters asking that video, logs and records be kept.
- 03Slack water
Step 3: You heal; we gather
Your job is treatment. Ours is the crash report, the photos, the bills and the records, and checking in every few weeks so you're never guessing.
- 04Slack water
Step 4: We wait for the full picture
We don't make a demand until your doctors can say what the injury will mean over time. Settling too early leaves money behind.
- 05The crossing
Step 5: The demand and the talks
We send the insurer a demand with the proof behind it, then negotiate. Every offer comes to you, with our honest view of it.
- 06Landfall
Step 6: Settlement, or a trial date
Most claims settle. If yours doesn't, we file suit and prepare it for trial. Either way, you decide.
- No fee unless we recoverCosts in the note below
- Call or text(207) 555-0138
No fee unless we recover money for you. We advance case costs such as records, experts and filing fees; they're repaid from a recovery, and if there's no recovery you owe nothing for them. The written fee agreement sets this out before you sign.
How long it takes, and what it costs
How long does a claim take?
Many settle within a year of treatment ending. A claim that goes to suit can take two years or more. We'll give you our best guess early and update it as things change.
What do I pay along the way?
Nothing. We advance the costs of the case and are repaid only from a recovery.
Will I have to go to court?
Probably not. Most claims settle without a trial. If yours is headed there, we'll prepare you for every step.
